WHY TWO RATES?
Most Studios have to drop their price when the work dries up, which it always does from time to time. They just don't tell anybody about it.
The Lodge has taken a radically different approach which has stood us in good stead for nearly ten years.
We adopted a two rate structure from the word go. The reasons for this are partly ideological and party economic. Having a recording studio of this quality in Northampton would be a disaster all ways round if the local music scene couldn't afford to use it.
And whilst our discount rate is clearly not the cheapest in town, nor is it much above the average.
The cost of recording at The Lodge is not out of reach by any means and it gives a serious band the chance to make a recording for a couple of hundred quid in a place which is in a completely different class to almost all other local studios who are, for the most part, only marginally cheaper. And how is it really cheaper if a place offering recording for £15 per hour is going to take half a day to get even a mediocre drum sound?
The fact is that people who are entitled to our discount rate, get a great deal more for their buck at The Lodge. For bands who are making demos to get gigs or record company interest, The Lodge offers them a genuine chance to get the best at a rate they can afford. And when they go on to make progress with their careers as a result, and many have, it makes us feel valuable.
The Standard Rate paid by those organisations who can afford to pay the going rate for the job, has enabled us to make enough profit to invest in all the improvements we have made to the studio over the years, a fact that benefits all.
